In 1854 a defrocked French seminarian writing as Éliphas Lévi published the book that reorganized Western occultism. Dogme et Rituel de la Haute Magie gave the scattered fragments of Kabbalah, Tarot, alchemy and ceremonial magic a single architecture, and nearly every occult order founded since, from the Golden Dawn onward, built on its floor plan. This is Arthur Edward Waite's complete 1896 English translation: both volumes, the Doctrine and the Ritual, each in twenty-two chapters keyed to the twenty-two Tarot trumps, with Waite's biographical preface and the Nuctemeron supplements.

Most editions in circulation are broken scans. Running heads land mid-sentence, chapters go missing, tables come out mangled. This Reclaimed Press edition gives the complete text, cleanly set, with working chapter navigation. It is a text-only edition: the portrait, figures and diagrams of the printed book are not reproduced.

Lévi himself is grand, scandalous and surprisingly practical by turns. Readers meet the astral light, the great magical agent, and the most influential account of ritual ever written for a general audience.

Format: EPUB, DRM-free.
